winter skin, wbu?

Funny story about my blog titles. I kinda think of something and then just run with it. Like ‘winter skin, wbu?’ is a pretty shit heading but every time I went to do some work on this post it was the only damn thing I could think of and now here we are. Right, enough rambling lets get on with it.

AHHH THE JOYS OF WINTER.

We get hot chocolates, early nights with a movie, lots of extra cozy layers and an abundance of DRY. SKIN.

It’s the bain of my existence every time May/June rolls around. My skin dries up (bearing in mind I already have dry skin in the heat of January) and texture is aplenty..

I’ve popped together a quick list of some new and long standing saviours when it comes to hydration, repair + moisture. I also feel it’s my duty of care to remind you to drink water and take your vitamin c xox.

RO’S ARGAN BODY CONDITIONER | LUSH

I picked this tub of goodness up about 2 Christmas’s ago and have been repurchasing since. I am about to admit the most ridiculous thing EVER, but I honestly find it more time consuming if I moisturise when I get out of the shower… alas this is heaven! It’s an in-shower body conditioner and has the most delightful sweet rosey vanilla scent. A little goes a LONG way and the brazil nut oil keeps my skin hydrated (but not tacky) for most of the day.

SOFT COEUR MASSAGE BAR | LUSH

This was a literal SALE. The lady did exactly what she’s been taught to do to reach her KPI’s and I was in a fragile mood and fell (hard) for it. It’s marketed as the ‘honeymoon bar’ which is rude bc that’s not currently on the cards but in all honestly it’s heavenly and exactly what this self care seeking human needs before bed sometimes. I tend to use this after a bath and just massage it in particularly dry areas. It melts on contact with the skin and smells DIVINE. Toffee heaven.

MOISTURE SURGE EYE CONCENTRATE | CLINIQUE *

The entire Moisture Surge range should be on this list, if I’m honest. But I notice my eyes in particular get SO unbelievably dry in winter- and this effects the way my concealer wears big time. This serum hydrates for a whopping 96-hours (although I reapply every 24 haha) but most importantly its lightweight which means it sits nicely with or without makeup.

NOURISHING CREAM MASK | KOTIA *

This one is reasonably new to the scene (said scene being my face), and therefore I should technically wait a little longer before chatting about it but I am quuuuite liking it. It’s comparable to the Summer Friday’s Jet Lag Mask (which is a firm fav) but has a much less tacky consistency which means I love layering it before I sleep and letting it work it’s magic. The entire range works off NZ Deer Milk which is fan-freaking-tastic but more on that later- I just really like this and use it in place of a night cream about 3 times a week.

SKIN FOOD | WELEDA

AHH MY MAN. THE ACTUAL TITS. My desert island product, for sure. For your face, your lips, your elbows, your itchy bites, your cuticles, split ends- heck chuck it on your dog I bet it’ll do something fancy. This product is the definition of multi use and I love it. You can tell- because it’s looking a little worse for wear. I’ve also broken the top of it so it kinda just spills out errywhere and makes a heck of a mess but it’s fine- rub it in and watch it work. Couldn’t recommend more highly (and it’s cheap as chips).

BUTTERMASK FOR LIPS | KIEHLS

This was 100% an #instagrammademedoit purchase and I don’t regret a thing. The consistency is very unique, somewhat odd, but incredibly effective and I sometimes just use this during the day if my lips are really struggling to retain moisture!

PURE COLOUR ENVY LIP BALM, REPAIR POTION & SUGAR SCRUB | ESTEE LAUDER *

Three’s usually a crowd but THIS TIME, three is the magic number. This trio from EL is the secret to plump + hydrated lips and harnesses the power of, you guessed it, HYALURONIC ACID!! WAHOOO. I start with the scrub (which wins at life because the sugar dissolves so it’s not messy like most), then top with the balm for day (a very sheer pink tint) or the potion for night. The potion in particular FEELS like it’s working- which I love. Let the ingredients work their magic in the late hours and voila, kissable in the AM- for the dog or whatever awaits you fair maiden.

SO- get on this hydrated and delightful journey with me and together we’ll get through this dry spell..

Lotsa love and thanks for reading another post written while I was in a weird and interesting mood,
